PCCC President Appointed to the Middle States Commission on Higher Education

PATERSON, NJ – Dr. Steven M. Rose, the president of Passaic County Community College (PCCC), has been named a committee officer of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), a Philadelphia-based, voluntary, non-governmental membership association that promotes educational excellence across institutions with diverse missions, student populations, and resources.

Dr. Rose was named in January as the 2021 Vice Chair of MSCHE’s Committee on Substantive Change. This Committee reviews requests from colleges and universities that want to make significant changes to the scope of their accreditation.

Dr. Rose stated that “Accreditation assures students and the public of the educational quality of higher education. I am honored to be part of the accreditation process that ensures institutional accountability, self-appraisal, improvement, and innovation through peer review and the rigorous application of standards within the context of institutional mission.”

MSCHE provides accreditation for degree-granting institutions which offer one or more postsecondary educational programs, including those offered via distance education, of at least one academic year in length at the Associate’s or higher level in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and any other geographic areas in which the Commission elects to conduct accrediting activities within and outside of the United States.

Dr. Rose is serving in his first term as a Commissioner while continuing as president of PCCC.
