PCCC Holds 8th Annual 5K Run/Walk for Completion

Proceeds to Support College Completion Scholarships for Students

Passaic County Community College (PCCC) invites everyone to participate in our fun-filled community event: the 8th Annual 5K Run/Walk for Completion on Saturday, October 28th at PCCC’s Wanaque Academic Center on 500 Union Avenue in Wanaque, NJ 07420. Participation fee is $20.00 per person. There is also a virtual option for participants who cannot come in person.

The 5K Run/Walk for Completion is a partnership between the Passaic County Community College Foundation in collaboration with the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, whose mission is to recognize the academic achievement of college students and to provide opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders.

The purpose of the event is to raise funds for student completion scholarships. These scholarships are for PCCC students who would not be able to complete their education at PCCC due to financial reasons. The scholarship assistance enables them to obtain the degree they are working toward.
All proceeds from the 5K go directly to support the completion of scholarships for students.

“The 5K Run/Walk for Completion is one of the PCCC Foundation’s most enjoyable events of the fall season,” says Dr. Steven Rose, president of PCCC.  “Over the past eight years, the event has grown tremendously while affording more students with opportunities to pursue their dream of a college education.  We deeply appreciate our event sponsors and our many donors and attendees, whose generosity directly impacts the lives of PCCC students.”

Since its beginning, the annual 5K Run/Walk for Completion has provided over $40,000 in scholarship funding and has assisted more than 80 students, each with a scholarship valued at $500.  Last year’s event raised nearly $9,000 which supported 18 scholarship awards.

In 2021, VISIONS Federal Credit Union became the headline sponsor of PCCC’s 5K. The New York-based non-profit firm maintains a location in Parsippany, New Jersey and has partnered with PCCC through workshops and presentations to educate students about financial literacy.

The in-person 5K event begins October 28 at 7:00 am with registration for those who did not pre-register online. The race starts at 8:00am. Virtual participants may complete their run or walk from wherever they are and anytime between their registration date until October 31.  Unable to run or walk?  You can still support student completion scholarships by donating.

To learn more and register for either the in-person or virtual 5K, or to make a donation, please go to pccc.edu/5k.   Donations are gratefully accepted and we thank everyone in advance for their participation and generosity.  #PCCC5KRun #Conquerthehill
