PCCC Foundation Announces New Partnership with Visions Federal Credit Union

PATERSON, NJ – The Passaic County Community College (PCCC) Foundation proudly announces an exciting new partnership with Visions Federal Credit Union (Visions FCU), a New York state-based financial institution that recently established a local branch office and that maintains a commitment to supporting education, the communities they serve, and social justice.

The partnership was inaugurated last October when Visions became the headline sponsor of PCCC’s Fifth Annual 5K Run/Walk for College Completion, a fundraising event to support scholarships for enrolled students who would not otherwise have the means to complete their college education.

The 2020 5K, held virtually, was the most successful in the history of the event, raising a record amount of over $11,000 at a time when student need became even more critical due to the Covid-19 crisis. The proceeds provided over 21 Completion Scholarships for PCCC students whose families were devastated financially by the pandemic. With the scholarships, those students will be able to remain enrolled and stay on track to complete their degrees and credentials.

Plans for future collaborations between PCCC Foundation and Visions FCU include continued event sponsorship, as well as financial education, internships, and employment opportunities for PCCC students.

“The PCCC Foundation is delighted to be partnering with Visions Federal Credit Union,” said Dr. Steven Rose, president of PCCC.  “This unique partnership will not only provide students with essential scholarship support, but also give them access to much-needed internships and employment opportunities.  These practical experiences–combined with scholarship aid–will put students on a pathway towards academic and career success.”

Visions FCU, a nonprofit financial institution completely owned by its members, was established in 1966 and maintains headquarters in Endicott, New York.  With current holdings of over $5 billion, Visions serves over 210,000 members in communities throughout New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.

Visions FCU provides financial services that include banking as well as auto, home, personal, and business loans. Through the Visions Cares program they invest over $1 million annually to support community causes by providing grant funding, event sponsorships, workforce development opportunities, grassroots activism, and activities that promote social responsibility and personal kindness.

“We understand the important role community colleges play in education,” said Tim Strong, Community Development Manager, Visions Federal Credit Union. “Providing access to affordable degree and certificate programs is incredibly important to helping all individuals and communities thrive.  Supporting PCCC in this way was a no-brainer, and a fun and exciting way to kick off a growing partnership.”

In a move that will facilitate their partnership with PCCC, Visions recently opened a new branch office in Fairfield, New Jersey. The location at 653 Route 46 is open for business and able to support all financial needs. Learn more at visionsfcu.org
