PCCC Announces Shakere “Ricky” Banks as New Head Coach of Women’s Basketball
Passaic County Community College (PCCC) Director of Athletics, Wayne R. Martin, announces the selection of Shakere “Ricky” Banks as the new Head Coach of Women’s Basketball to usher in the 2024-2025 season.
“I want to thank Athletics Director, Wayne Martin, and the College administration for the opportunity to lead and enhance the Women’s Basketball program at Passaic County Community College,” said Banks. “We have a dedicated group of female student-athletes ready to play basketball and to excel in the classroom during the upcoming season. I’m looking forward to working with the team and the coaching staff with the goal of achieving a national championship.”
Banks graduated from Frank W. Cox High School out of Virginia Beach, Virginia in 1997. He played men’s basketball for Passaic County Community College from 1999 to 2001 and obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Kean University, New Jersey. A faithful supporter of PCCC Athletics, Banks has been a volunteer coach at the College since 2003, serving for 10 years as Men’s Assistant Basketball Coach, followed by nine years as Women’s Assistant Basketball Coach.
The rewards of Banks’ volunteer efforts became apparent when the PCCC Women’s Basketball Team won back-to-back NJCAA Region 19 Championships in 2019 and 2020.
“Coach Shakere Banks has been a fixture and positive role model on behalf of the student population at PCCC throughout the years. He is reliable and a diligent recruiter in obtaining student-athletes. Our visions align, and we are glad to have a new Head Coach striving toward championship success,” says Athletics Director Wayne Martin.
