Moving Forward: Portraits by Lindy Blanchard
In celebration of Women’s History Month, the PCCC Broadway Gallery presents Moving Forward: Portraits by Lindy Blanchard, an exhibition featuring over 30 oil paintings, most depicting scenes from daily life.
Rendered in soft, muted tones are a father holding up his baby for all to see, baby twins, clad in white and sleeping side-by-side, a man working outdoors on his computer under, the watchful eye of a pigeon, and many others.
After Lindy Blanchard received a BA degree in art history from Wheaton College in Massachusetts, she realized her true passion was to create her own art. She went on to train at the National Academy of Art and the Art Students League in New York, honing her skills in realistic paintings of places she lived or visited in her travels.
Today her paintings focus on diverse individuals against minimal backgrounds, compelling viewers to engage with the subject’s humanity. Ms. Blanchard’s work has received the “Best in Show” recognition at the Bendheim Juried Exhibit and the Dagny A. Hultgreen Award in Greenwich, Connecticut. Ms. Blanchard has held solo exhibitions and participates in group shows. Her works are also in private collections around the globe.
The exhibition runs from March 4 to April 16, 2025. A reception will be held in the Gallery on Thursday, March 20 from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Admission is free to the exhibition and the reception.
The Broadway Gallery is located on the Paterson campus of Passaic County Community College. The entrance is at Broadway and Memorial Drive. Gallery hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
