Graduating Students of Dialysis Technician Program Hired by Industry Leader

Vanessa Cruz (right) and Sashaneek Elson will graduate from PCCC’s Dialysis Technician Career Certificate Program next month and already landed full-time employment with a leading kidney care company. Both started their new jobs on May 23 in different clinic locations.

“I am thankful and excited to have a job before I graduate,” says Vanessa. “I expect to be part of my patients’ life and hope to help them in their process of healing.”  Sashaneek says she was “extremely grateful and excited” to receive a job offer so quickly. “My biggest expectation is to make a difference, be successful, and never let my patients down.”

Their job offers came about when the students were completing the clinical requirement for their PCCC program at a DaVita Kidney Care clinic. Accompanied by their PCCC professor, the students met a recruiter for DaVita who later called them back for interviews and offers of employment.

Vanessa started PCCC’s Dialysis Technician program last September and sees this as a first step in her healthcare career. “My goal is to become a nurse,” she says. “It has always been an aspiration of mine. “

Sashaneek started out in PCCC’s nursing program, but later switched. “I’ve had my personal experience with being around a dialysis patient and was helpless back then when he was in need,” she explains. “Now my plan is to work as a dialysis tech and work my way up in that field.”

Both grads-to-be give high marks to PCCC and to the Dialysis Technician program and faculty. “The healthcare faculty at PCCC has been incredibly supportive of me in achieving my career goal,” says Vanessa. “I can count on them when I come back to further my education to become a nurse.

Sashaneek describes her PCCC experience as “wonderful,” adding, “PCCC provided me with the educational and financial help to achieve my goal. What I like best about PCCC is that it’s not just an institution, it’s a family.”

The new dialysis techs will receive their career certificates in a June 6 ceremony at PCCC’s Main Campus in Paterson. Congratulations Vanessa and Sashaneek. We wish you continued success and fulfillment in your healthcare careers.
