Theater Presentation: I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter

March 5 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Join us Thursday, March 5  for live theater performances based on the popular novel “I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter,” by Erika I. Sanchez, which tells the story of Julia Reyes, a high school student who dreams of becoming a writer while also navigating familial expectations, examining cultural standards, and investigating the death of her sister, Olga.  There will be two performances at 1:10 pm and at 6:00 pm.  Both will be in the PCCC Theater at 204 Ellison Ave and are free and open to the public.

This event is the second in a 3-event series called  Books Unite and created by Literature to Life (LTL)  a New York-based organization that promotes literacy and the power of books to unite communities through shared experiences and conversations about literature.  LTL is collaborating with Passaic County Community College and the Paterson Public Library to offer these events, all of which  are free and open to the public.

See the novel come to life onstage.  The Literature to Life production, adapted and directed by Ana Maria Jomolca and starring Elizabeth Raquel Ramirez, explores issues of identity, trauma, and grief, allowing audiences to see both raw emotion and humor through the eyes of a budding young writer.  There will be a pre- and post-performance discussion led by Ms. Jomoica.
