Books Unite: Book Club Meeting

ALL ARE WELCOME!   Join us for the first event of Books Unite! a free  three-event program presented in Paterson  by the New York-based  Literature to Life organization  in collaboration with Passaic County Community College and the Paterson Public Library.  Books Unite  aims to promote literacy as well as a love for reading with the goal to unite communities through books, theater, and shared conversations and experiences.

The book selected for this program is the popular novel  I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by Erika L. Sánchez, which tells the story of Julia Reyes, a high school student who dreams of becoming a writer while also navigating familial expectations, examining cultural standards, and investigating the death of her sister, Olga —who might not have been quite as perfect as she seemed.

Participants will read the book, then participate in a Book Club discussion,  view a theatrical performance of the book, and enjoy an interactive workshop based on the themes of the book.  Participants may choose to attend any or all three events. All events are free and open to the public.

The Book Club will meet Monday, March 2  from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Paterson Public Library, 250 Broadway.  All who wish to participate may pick up a  free copy of the book at the Library.  For information about Books Unite, email Susan Balik at [email protected]
