Ashely Diaz Awarded Prestigious Community College Transfer Scholarship

Passaic County Community College student Ashely Diaz, in her most distinguished honor this spring, is one of 100 recipients of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s prestigious Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. The highly competitive national scholarship will provide Ashely with up to $55,000 a year to complete her bachelor’s degree, as well as opportunities for internships, study abroad, and graduate school funding.

Ashely is only the second PCCC student to receive the Cooke Foundation’s Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship.  She was among more than 1,200 students from 332 community colleges who applied to receive this year’s award. The Cooke Foundation evaluated each submission based on students’ academic ability and achievement, financial need, persistence, and leadership.

“Ashely Diaz is most worthy of this prestigious award,” said Dr. Steven Rose, president of PCCC. “I congratulate the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation for recognizing her incredible potential and making the decision to invest in her future.”

A Human Services/Social Work major, Ashely will receive her associate’s degree from PCCC in next month’s commencement. This spring, she has also received a scholarship from the Coca-Cola Foundation and has been named to the 2022 New Jersey All-State Academic Team, an honor based on both academic achievement and leadership and service to the College.

As a new recipient of the Cooke Undegraduate Transfer Scholarship, Ashely will receive comprehensive educational advising designed to guide students through the process of transitioning to a four-year college and preparing for their careers. Along with financial support and the benefits mentioned above, scholars will additionally be connected to a thriving network of over nearly 3,000 Cooke Scholars and Alumni.

Congratulations to Ashely on this very distinguished honor and on continuing make PCCC proud of you. We wish you all the success and fulfillment you deserve as you pursue your academic and professional dreams.
