IN MEMORY OF DR. ROSE
Steven M. Rose, Ed.D.
It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved President Rose, who died peacefully overnight.
President Steven M. Rose has served Passaic County Community College (PCCC) with extraordinary dedication since 1987, the vast majority of that time as president, devoting nearly four decades of his life to the mission of student success, access to education, and the strengthening of our community. His leadership helped shape PCCC into the institution it is today, and his unwavering commitment to our students, faculty, staff, and alumni leaves a legacy that will endure for generations. His influence extended well beyond the College, touching communities throughout Passaic County and shaping higher education and workforce initiatives at the state and national levels.
Beyond his many professional accomplishments, President Rose will be remembered for his compassion, integrity, and deep belief in the transformative power of education. He led with humility and purpose, always placing people first and inspiring those around him to strive for excellence while remaining grounded in service.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with President Rose’s family, including his wife, Alexia, and daughters, Emily and Jenna, as well as with all loved ones and those whose lives he touched during this incredibly difficult time.
The family has shared that funeral services will be private. In the coming weeks, the College will host a memorial celebration of President Rose’s life and legacy at Passaic County Community College. Details regarding this event will be communicated to the community as soon as they become available.
We know this loss will be felt deeply across our campus and beyond. We encourage members of our community to support one another and to take time to reflect on the remarkable impact President Rose had on all of us.
