The Passaic County Community College Public Safety Department is dedicated to developing partnerships with the community we serve, including students, faculty and staff in order to enhance the goal of providing quality higher education in a safe and secure atmosphere.  Through these partnerships, we will preserve a learning environment that supports academic freedom, respect for diversity, fair and equal treatment to all, and an open exchange of ideas.

Campus Safety: Our Top Priority - The highest priority of the Public Safety Department is to support the College Community by providing protective services to all individuals who use our campuses.  That goal, however, is best achieved when the College community joins forces with Public Safety as partners in security initiatives such as being aware of your surroundings, avoiding undue risk, taking responsibility for your actions and possessions, and taking ownership of the College by reporting suspicious activity immediately.

Our Duties

- Patrolling campus building, grounds, and parking areas on foot and by vehicle as a crime prevention tool.
- Responding to emergencies and working with outside response agencies.
- Enforcing College policy and State laws.
- Providing ID Badge Credentialing and Parking Management services.
- Continual assessments of Public Safety programs and recommendations for improvement.
- Providing walking escorts upon request.

PCCC Command Center Dispatchers provide immediate communication to officers on patrol via two-way radios.

PCCC Walking Escorts, Call 973-684-5403 or 811 from a campus phone.

Security encourages the campus community to report all suspicious activity or crimes via many resources:

  1. Notifying a Public Safety Officer on patrol
  2. Reporting the matter to the Public Safety Office in person or by calling 973-684-5403 or 811 from a campus phone.
  3. Notifying the Public Safety Director at 973-684-5402.
  4. Notifying the Public Safety Evening Supervisor at 973-684-5420

Any concerns or questions about public safety on College grounds and facilities may be directed to the Public Safety Office at 973-684-5403 or 811 (campus phone), or through the Public Safety online Community Feedback form.
