When did the Child Care Center open?
PCCC Child Development Center opened its doors  in 1999. 

 

What ages are accepted?
Care is provided for children ages 3 - 4. 

 

Does PCCC CDC accept families from the community?
Yes, we currently have one 3 and 4 year-old classroom for non-Paterson residents.

 

What is the State Mandated Preschool Program?
 PCCC CDC is contracted as a State Mandated Preschool Program provider. The State Mandated Preschool Program offers high- quality child care services, free of charge to all 3 and 4 year-old Paterson residents.  For more information on the State Mandated Preschool Program Program visit:

How much does child care cost?
Rates vary depending on the amount of time the child will be attending the center and the child's age. Tuition is free for families who qualify through the State Mandated Preschool Program during hours of 8:30am to 3:00pm. Before and After Care ("Wrap Around") funding is available to families who qualify. Please see our Tuition and Fees pages page for more information on the cost of our Tuition Based Program.  Students of PCCC who are enrolled for 9 or more credits may also qualify for free or reduced child care through the Student Support Service.  We also accept 4C'S funding.

 

Is the center open year-round?
Yes, we are open 12 months. Please see our Calendar for Scheduled closings.

 

What hours is the center open?
Our Day program hours are Monday – Friday, 7 am – 5 pm.


 

Where is the center located?
The Child Development Center is located in downtown Paterson on Broadway.  Our main facility stands between the main entrance of Passaic County Community College and 126 Broadway.

 

What materials will be in my child's classroom?
Each classroom is designed to educate the children through hands on learning centers.  The children can move freely from one center to another with the guidance of a teacher or an assistant. The learning centers include resources in Language Arts, Mathematics and Science, Creative Arts, Music, Blocks, and Sand or Water Play.

 

Can my child take a nap at the center?
Yes.  We ask that the parents provide a crib sheet and blanket for their child’s sleeping mat.

 

Will meals be provided for my child?
Breakfast is offered between 8:00-8:30am if your child is in the wrap around program.  If your child does not have wrap around they will be served breakfast in the breakfast room between 8:15-8:30am.  Any child needing breakfast after 8:30 may sit with a parent at the breakfast table in the hallway and then escorted to their classroom. A well-balanced lunch will be provided around noon. There is also an afternoon snack scheduled.


 

Will the children be able to play outside?
Yes, we have a newly renovated, gated playground on site. Gross motor/outdoor play is scheduled twice daily.

 

How can I place my child on the waiting list?
There is no formal waiting list for our program. However, completing a Request Information Form will enable us to notify you if there are any openings in our program.  A Request Form is available in our Forms and Documents Link.

 

Does my child have to be potty trained in order to attend the center?
No, CDC will assist parents in potty training their child.  We do ask that you provide a change of clothes to have at the center in case of an accident.

 

What is NAEYC Accreditation?
PCCC Child Development Center became NAEYC Accredited in July 2009. We are one of the first programs in the nation to achieve this honor under the new accreditation system.

The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) offers a national accrediting system for Early Childhood Program.  Programs that achieve the status of “accredited” must prove that they provide a high quality Early Childhood program and adhere to the NAEYC standards of quality.  For more information on NAEYC Accreditation please visit www.naeyc.org/accreditation
